What is the average bidding percentage under the asking price of a home?
Q. I am bidding on a home and I have contigency (no contract/offer yet). What would be considered a fair offer if the asking price is $290? Does the contingency factor into the price? Is thier an "average" percentage?
Asked by beccaboogrl - Mon Jun 18 15:28:26 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Anything goes in the Real Estate business and it especially depends on the Buyers and sellers Motivies. If you really want this house and are buying subject to another selling your contract may really not mean to much to the seller and to catch there attention you may very well need to go close or at the asking price. If its just subject to you getting a loan and its cash and you are 99.9% sure you can get the loan and can close rather quickly then you might be able to negotiate some. However every sale is different. Some Seller's ask what they want and won't take anything off. The next could mark it up by 50% hoping for a big offer. There is no set "Average" to offer less than the asking price.

How does priceline's bidding program work?
Q. I'm planning to buy a plane ticket through priceline's bidding option on their site. I see that you can pick your dates and airports, but not the time. Is time the only thing that you can't pick, or do they sometimes change the day and airports too?? Can anyone with experience using this explain how the process works, since you are obligated to buy the ticket if the bid is picked up. I just don't wanna get ripped off if they change the flight dates or switch airports within the city.

A. They wouldn't change the airport, but the day can be.

How is the bidding and payment done for a Sheriff Sale?
Q. If a sheriff sale listing says "Sheriff to collect $150,000" does that means the bidding starts there, ends there, or neither? Also, if you win the bid and pay the downpayment, when is the remaining balance owed? Is it owed by the end of the day or week, etc.? Are there lenders present at the courthouse?

A. sheriff sales, trustee sales or foreclosure sales ---whatever you want to call them are usually held on the courthouse steps at a predetermined time. the property will be awarded to the highest bidder if: 1-he has proper financing or cash at time of sale 2-if he is somewhere close to the anticipated amount the bank needs. banks are now starting to turn down high bids that are not even remotely close to the defaulted amount. with the number of foreclosures increasing every day the banks are now refusing to take losses. you will need to contact the sherrif and ask if the 150K is back taxes and liens, the defaulted amount or where the bidding is to begin. each area is different also make sure you can look at the property somehow with an… [cont.]

Can I sell tickets on ebay if the bidding exceeds the face value of the ticket in Michigan?
Q. Im trying to sell my tigers playoff tickets on ebay and I know there used to be a rule where once the bidding would exceed the face value of the tickets, the auction would end automatically because of the State law. I noticed alot of people selling tickets on there and was wondering if it was still the case.
Asked by Nate B - Thu Sep 24 09:41:02 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Michigan's anti-scalping laws prohibit selling a ticket for more than face value. It should end when you hit face. If not, like anything on ebay, you are in the end responsible if you break the law.

Does this eBay bidding seem a little suspicious to you?
Q. I have a used, semi-functional, iPod video on eBay right now, and there have only been two bidders. One of the bidders, we'll call him bidder A, seems legit, lot's of good feedback. The other, we'll call her bidder B, only has 2 a total of two feedbacks (both positive though) I looked up the bidding history between them and you'd think the normal bidding pattern between two bidders would be ABABAB, right? Instead it's something like this: bbabbbababa why would bidder B bid 10 times in between? She kept raising the bid from $31 in increments of $2-$5 up to $60. Is this something that normal buyers do?
Asked by Money Mike - Mon Sep 3 19:48:32 2007 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No, it is fine. This is happening becase "bidder B" entered a bid and when "bidder A" entered a bid that was lower than "bidder B's" max the site posts as a new bid by "bidder B" so this would mean that "bidder A" tried to outbid the other bidder x number of times and the site kept reposting "bidder B's" next highest increment (whatever it was set at).

A. There are realtors in PI just like the states. The hard part will be finding one that's not going to scam you. You should probably go there in-person to oversee the sale. 30 million PHP is like $625,000. Just be careful of which realtor you trust, be sure to verify credentials and oversee it in-person.

A. Might be easier to figure your cost per gallon of paint that you apply! Charge so much per gallon, and you know a gallon will cover about 350sq ft on a good day! If something takes two coats that is in your favor as it will use more paint!

Q. i was thinking about selling my bike on ebay for like $300 and im worried that if during the bidding within the last 5 minutes the bids are only up to 150 or something, then can i cancel it all and stop the bid?
Asked by noots - Fri Aug 7 16:37:39 2009 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You can set a minimum bid amount or set a reserve amount that must be met before there can be a winning bidder. It is also a good way to figure out if your bike is worth $300. If you start the bidding at $300 and no one bids, or you set a reserve at $300 and no one bids to the reserve your bike isn't going to sell for $300 and you can either relist it for a lower amount or decide to keep it. If you chose not to do either once someone starts to bid on your item you cannot remove the listing.

Asked by drzmk5 - Tue Apr 14 09:32:05 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you have a minimum amount you are willing to sell an item for, the best thing to do is to put that amount as your starting bid, or else you put on a reserve, which can be concealed from buyers. I don't think you can refuse to sell something because it didn't end as high as you wanted it to. Some items do end up unsold because the reserve isn't met. I have never really seen the point of putting a secret reserve on something myself, it seems to me you might as well be upfront about the amount you are willing to sell something for, but a lot of people seem to do it. I don't suppose you can actually be forced to sell something to the buyer if you don't want to, but I think it will result, not surprisingly, in you getting negative… [cont.]

How do you know if someone is using bots or something to jack up the bidding on e-bay and what can you do?
Q. It looks like a few items I'm bidding on are being bid on by computers or something of that nature. Their names are t**t and l**l stuff like that. But there's five or six different ones like that on each item. It just seems fishy to me.
Asked by Steve C - Mon Jul 7 21:02:09 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. eBay no longer shows bidders' full IDs, instead showing the IDs' first and last letters and representing omitted letters with asterisks. There is no way to know if a bid was placed "live" or by a bot.

A. You will just have to contact the seller, via the messaging system that e-bay uses. Tell them what has happened and due to the circumstances you will not be able to afford the purchase. Apologise and tell them that they can re-list the item. Good luck!

How does one consider the estimate for bidding a job on laying tile flooring?
Q. If there are any professionals out there reading this, I really would like to know how it is figured in the budget to bid a job on laying ceramic tiles for flooring. Do you bid by the tile, square footage of the room, etc.? Does the size of the tiles matter or effect the price of the job? How do you figure for a hall way? Long or short. Thanks for your help in advance!

A. I had always by the s/f .. Custom work usually by the linear foot. (stripping for example ) Separate for the labor and what we called "prep materials" That is taxable labor is not.. So there should be a break down from labor and taxable items.. If you ballpark 15 $ a s/f it will give you a guesstimate and a guesstimate only .. Locations and tile prices cal vary a lot so use it as a general rule of thumb only.. Rip out and disposal are not figured in there either.. Hope this helps gl p s always get quotes from regular businesses and check for licenses and insurances

How long does it take for bidding to start on an ebay auction?
Q. From the time that you post the item, what is the typical wait for bids to come in? What speeds the process up, etc?
Asked by StarryEyedSurprise - Mon Nov 27 17:12:08 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The best way to speed up your auction is to use keywords; just try to be as descriptive of your item as possible. Lots of buyers use eBay's "Favorites" to let them know whenever a particular item comes up for auction. The feature searches for buyer-specified keywords in new listings and sends an email to the buyer whenever an auction is posted that meets those specifications. Example: during the summer one of my auctions got a bid while I was listing the next item. I'd say, it was about a 3-minute turnaround!

A. If you really want the item, go to Auctionsniper.com and sign up for a snipe account. You enter your top dollar and when you want them to bid for you. I usually go for 7 seconds before it ends. Works most of the time unless the price goes beyond my top dollar. I win tons of stuff in the middle of the night like this.
