Verbbidding
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Bidding is an offer (often competitive) of setting a price one is willing to pay for something. A price offer is called a bid. The term may be used in context of auctions, stock exchange, card games, or real estate transactions. "Bidding up" means rising a price for an item by a series of rising bids. It may be unlawful, if done by a group of persons with an interest in raising the price. In traditional auctions, bidding up is a natural course of events. Since 1990s, with the emergence of online auctions, reverse auctions gained popularity, in which the traditional roles of buyers and sellers are reversed, and the goal of bidding is to drive the price down, similar to bid shopping practice of selecting a contractor to do a job. Q. I've been subcontracting flooring jobs from flooring stores for the past ten years and would like to begin bidding my own projects from general contractors. How do contractors find out about open bidding and how do I get on the local contractors lists. Asked by don_megaWC - Tue Jun 23 08:54:44 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. One of the best ways is to read the public notices column in the newspapers. companies advertize projects to bid in this area. Other options are to go to developers internet sites and look at their "advertised projects to bid." You can go to local city and town internet sites and they usually have an area on the site for "projects to bid", or "procurement". You usually have to register on most of these sites but once you do, more often than not, they will email you "offers to bid" future projects as they become available. When you register on these sites, they will also let you download or print available bidding documents for quoting purposes. Q. I'm bidding on something at Ebay for the first time, and I'm wondering what stops vendors from creating other accounts and then bidding on their own items in order jack up the price? Asked by Noah H - Sun May 3 01:27:20 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. It's called "shill bidding". It can be done and, unfortunately, some sellers do it. eBay is keeping a track on those and blocking such attempts, but sometimes it may be too late or eBay did not see it coming. I snipe for auctions I want. Since sniping is bidding on last seconds, the seller has no time to do shill bidding.
